The Sarawak Delta Geopark (SDGp) is a land of remarkable geological diversity, a sanctuary for biodiversity, and a landscape of breathtaking beauty. It is home to ancient tropical rainforests, a vibrant tapestry of multi-ethnic cultures, significant archaeological and historical treasures, and an array of unique, mouth-watering local delicacies.

SDGp is ready to welcome the world.

The Sarawak Government is deeply committed to safeguarding our geological and biological heritage, recognizing its vital role in supporting biodiversity, cultural traditions, and sustainable development.

Understanding the far-reaching benefits of UNESCO Global Geopark recognition, the State Government is confident that pursuing this prestigious status will ignite greater dedication and collaboration among our agencies, partners, and local communities.

Achieving UNESCO Global Geopark status will position Sarawak as a global leader in environmental sustainability, enhance local infrastructure, drive socio-economic growth, and improve the well-being of our people. Governance of Sarawak Delta Geopark

The geopark management framework is based on the principle of "co-management," where authorities and stakeholders collaboratively provide direction, approve and monitor geopark programmes and development activities. The Geopark Management Unit (GMU) under the FDS is responsible for coordinating and overseeing meetings and implementation of the agreed-upon outcomes. Actions and activities are carried out by designated agencies and stakeholders through clearly defined projects. The governance structure comprises three administrative tiers: the Steering Committee, the Technical Committee, and the Working Group Committees.
