The Sarawak Delta Geopark Gallery serves as a centre for exhibition, education, and promotion, showcasing the unique geological heritage, biodiversity, and cultural values found within the Sarawak Delta Geopark area. The gallery was established to enhance public awareness of the importance of geoparks and to support the sustainable development of geotourism in Sarawak.
The Main Role of Sarawak Delta Gallery
Introduces Sarawak’s geological heritage, including rock formations, caves, rivers, and the history of Borneo’s formation dating back hundreds of millions of years.
Showcases unique biodiversity, including iconic species such as orangutans, proboscis monkeys, as well as mangrove and peat swamp ecosystems.
Promotes local cultural heritage, highlighting the Malay, Bidayuh, and other ethnic communities that inhabit the geopark area.
Serves as a centre for education and research for students, researchers, and visitors through interactive exhibitions and public awareness programmes.
Supports efforts to achieve and maintain UNESCO Global Geopark recognition, while promoting sustainable tourism development in Sarawak.
