The aSDGp is actively involving local communities in its management and development. Regular briefing sessions educate residents about the geopolitical, ecological, and cultural significance of the region. Workshops on conservation, tourism management, and community engagement empower residents to actively contribute to the geopark’s initiatives. These activities ensure their voices are heard and integrated into decision-making processes. The aSDGp engages local communities in events like clean-up drives, cultural exhibitions, and educational fairs to promote ecological and cultural resource stewardship.

Some of the activities done;


The Public Education and Community Involvement Working Group of the Sarawak Delta Geopark, led by Kuching Division Resident Puan Dayang Hajah Joanita Azizah binti Abang Haji Morshidi, in collaboration with the community of Kampung Semeba and Country Hills. The event involved 106 participants, including local residents, staff from the Kuching Division Resident's Office, Kuching District Office, Geopark Management Unit of Forest Department Sarawak, Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia, Padawan Municipal Council, Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from around Batu Kitang. The session concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by Batu Kitang assemblyman, YB Dato Ir. Lo Khere Chiang.


Engagement Session with the community at Kampung Semeba aims to educate and involve the Semeba community with geological knowledge, local heritage, and the conservation effort of Schist Tuang Semeba.


Early Visit to Kampung Peros : Proactive Steps Towards UNESCO Global Geopark Evaluation.


The Peros community living within the Sarawak Delta Geopark area had the opportunity to deepen their videography skills using smartphones through a Smartphone Video Course. The course aimed to empower the local community to produce creative content that highlights the uniqueness of their village, culture, and tourism activities found in the Sarawak Delta Geopark.


Geopark Management Unit of Forest Department Sarawak had an engagement session with Jagoi Area Development Committee (JADC) Exco members to discuss the way forward in promoting the Jagoi community within the Sarawak Delta Geopark through geotourism activities.

Program on Valuing & Educating on Archaeological Heritage Program, Kampung Santubong.


Geopark Management Unit of Forest Department Sarawak had a fruitful engagement session with Bung Siburan Heritage Association (BSHA) exco members.


Meeting and discussion session with the Jagoi Area Development Committee (JADC) to explore potential collaboration and the involvement of the Jagoi community within the Sarawak Delta Geopark area.


Engagement Session and Awareness Program for the Aspiring Sarawak Delta UNESCO Global Geopark [Study on Sarawak Delta Geopark Development & Management Plan 2040] with Heads Village from Kuching District, Padawan Sub-District and Bau District in collaboration with the Kuching Resident's Office and Chemsain Kuching.


Sarawak Delta Geopark Community Programme with Kampung Sibu Laut, Kuching as part of the community engagement initiative, a total of 50 Sea Casuarina trees were planted along the Sibu Laut beach area with active participation from the local community. A briefing on the Sarawak Delta Geopark was also delivered to the local community by the Head of Geopark Management Unit of Forest Department Sarawak.
